Mostly Yellow

So, this is the first "freestyle" post since the end of my twelve month series of daily constitutional posts in a time of COVID, and I find myself with a bit of a problem. It's a little problem, very little, but it's there. You see, in England, we are still largely in lockdown and asked not to travel out of our local area. I am continuing to walk regularly, but therefore in my local area of South Cambridgeshire. The photographs I am taking are therefore of my local area and mostly when I am out walking. The issue is, how do I differentiate these freer posts from those that were part of my longer walking series?

This dilemma is exacerbated by the fact that there are heaps (and I do mean heaps) of wonderful daffodils in bloom at present and I am taking many photographs of them (exactly as I did during my series of walking photo posts).

My solution, dear viewer, is to theme these, my posts.

In recognition of the plethora of daffodil photos I am currently accumulating, the first themed post will be around the colour yellow. You should therefore expect to find something yellow in each of these photographs and no, not every photograph is of daffodils, though I admit there are quite a few... So many, in fact, that my black and white walking buddy has had no option but to pose with some.

"Rafts of bright flowers assemble

spontaneously across the soil,

their wintered bulbs

blowing stored fertility

in bursts of sunshine yellow"

From Another Spring Morning by J.S.Watts

"the small-bird chorus

flitting excitedly in the trees and hedgerows

of the promised spring."

And the last photo is of a little bird that is yellow in colour and yellow by name... Yellowhammer.
