"Like a late crop of poppies,
Flaunting and ballooning their new scarlet skirts"
Extract from "Stubble Burning" (Cats and Other Myths, Lapwing Publications) by J.S.Watts
Poppies are for life as well as death
But mostly life.
Poppies are for now as well as remembrance
But always now.
Fields flowing with red.
Filled and still filling.
Hundreds, thousands, beyond measuring.
This is life shouting loudly.
You do have to listen.
